The Persian Gulf of Solar Energy

A bit sensationalistic of a title considering the amount of output...

Bottom line, lots of solar going into AZ...

Some facts:

• Abengoa Solar will operate the $1 billion plant
  
• The solar plant would be able to power 70,000 homes

Now I am a big fan of alternative energy, but 1,000,000,000$ / 70,000 =~ 14,000$ per home... Ummm, its going to take quite a few years for this math to work out (unless we are talking 70,000 of Bill Gates' home), even if the facility is built at cost. Not counting operating costs.

Lets hope this gets cheaper over time.
